Since 2005, Heart of God Church’s Academic Excellence & Holistic Development (AE) programme has empowered students to Do Good and Do Well—excel in school, have great family relationships and volunteer in church—all at the same time.
By applying AE principles to their studies, students not only see improved grades, but also a renewed love for learning.
Beyond academic progress, they also develop in skillset, confidence and mental resilience, mature in character, and grow to make a difference in the lives of others.
Many have graduated with top honours and scholarships, doing well in their chosen fields.
“If I can teach, grow and mature a thousand young people into responsible, godly, loving citizens, in 20 years there will be 1,000 great families...”
Heart of God Church was invited by the Ministry of Social and Family Development to collaborate on a programme to provide free tutoring to youth in the community taking their PSLE and O Level examinations.
My children grew up here, they have been given the opportunity to lead, to serve, and to love people.
“I was able to create an analytics dashboard in half a day because I had already mastered the relevant techniques in the church’s summer training programme.”
“The church funded courses on mental and emotional resilience to help youths through the pandemic and beyond.”
“In the end, I scored 5 As! With God, church and Academic Excellence, I went through A-Levels not just living for myself but for others.”
“An app coded by HOGC youths to reward studying and discipline. By converting study hours into upgrades for a virtual farm, students are motivated to achieve academic excellence.”
“A youth with disabilities was not held back from dreaming big because of his strong support system in church.”
“After listening to AE messages, my approach to teaching started to change. I realised that every student has the potential to succeed.”

We recognise both success and progress by awarding the “Top All-Rounder Student” and “Most Improved Student” after their major exams. This encourages our young people to Do Good and Do Well.
Our church is open on weekdays to give students a conducive study environment. We also provide tuition for some youth leaders. Our tutors include those who have been through the AE programme and now volunteer to help the next generation.
We provide an environment where youths can build wholesome friendships and find emotional support. We also co-fund clinical psychology courses on mental and emotional resilience, relationship and personal development.
Young people are entrusted with professional equipment and receive training from experienced ministry leaders. They pick up new skills and discover talents in areas such as music, multimedia production, performing arts and coding.
Young people grow in leadership, self-esteem, confidence, character development, and communication through the many opportunities given to them – expressing their creativity to organise large-scale events for thousands of people.
We provide opportunities for young people to work with other religious and community organisations to make a difference in the community. Our interfaith initiatives by youths have been featured in the news for promoting harmony in Singapore.
